Remarks:
Light Frames: 12 x 5min, 7 x 30sec, 8 x 15sec, 5 x 7sec. All @ 800ISO
Dark Frames: 20
Filters: Baaders UV/IR cut & Orions Sky Glow. Combining these two filters only passes light wave in the 470-520nm (Oxygen III Transmission) and 645-690nm (Hydrogen Alpha Transmission) range. M42 is rich in these spectrums and my neighborhood lights are not, thank goodness.
I also modified my camera (Canon 300D) by removing the internal IR cut filter to allow a full spectrum of light to reach the chip. Its now a dedicated astrophotography camera.
Calibrated, aligned, stacked and stretched in ImagesPlus. Mask, layers and levels in GIMP.
I'm 40 yrs old and been into astrophotography for 2 yrs.
