Subject: Leo Triplet of Galaxies (M65, M66 and NGC3628)
Author: Mark Hudson
Scope: WO ZenithStar 66 Petzval ED Semi-AP
Instruments: Mounted piggyback on an LX200 10?, camera SXV-H9. An Orion Narrowband filter was used between the scope and filter wheel containing Astronomik LRGB Type 2 filters.
Exposure time: 40mins for L, 10mins for R, 10mins for G and 16mins for B. All images were 2x2 due to guiding errors.
Place & Seeing: Newcastle under Lyme, Staffordshire, UK. Seeing conditions were good for the area, but still heavy light pollution (street lights 40ft away). Bright moon also in Gemini.
Date: 2nd March 2006
Remarks:
Careful examination of this image shows many faint IC objects, some of which are 15th and 16th magnitude. Due to light pollution gradient removal techniques were performed in PhotoShop.
