Subject: NGC 2244, Rosette Nebula in hubble palette
Author: Paolo Lazzarini
Scope: WO Megrez triplet fluorite/Super APO
Instruments: WO 0.8 reducer flattener, SBIG ST2000XM, Losmandy G11
Exposure time:5 h total: Luminance=Halpha (2 h bin1x1); RGB = SII, Halpha, OIII (Hubble palette) for 1.5:2:1.5 hours respectively
Place & Seeing:Alpe di Paglio (ITALY)
Date:21 January 2006
Remarks:
The hubble palette (SII,Ha,OIII), here used to create a mapped color version of an Halpha luminace layer, is very effective in highlighting the different chemical elements present in the nebular region.
The drawback of this interesting method is represented by the red halos near the brightest star. This is due to the fact that the red channel (Sulfur) had been deeply stretched to show the surfur content in the nebula.
